So we’ve made a decision on what to do for 2017… DRINK! (and a walk of course #justification)
The notion of the local hotel, one where the locals go, where the barman greets the regulars by name and knows what they’ll have, is a romantic one.
Are there 52 local hotels to be found? Oh, and 52 different beers or Marlborough NZ Savignon Blancs to sample as well 🙂
A few years ago, we stumbled across the London Hotel in Balmain and had a drink and dinner there on a quiet week-night.
We honestly felt like uninvited intruders! The bar staff were terrific, I’m not suggesting for a minute that they didn’t make us feel welcome… however, it was clear that we were outsiders. The barstaff didn’t know our drink order automatically, we weren’t greeted by name, and we didn’t have a dog with us at the bar!
