At Clontarf, opposite The Spit, a great dog friendly beach, before fish and chips at Manly.

Great off leash fenced dog areas, a dip in the Lane Cove River, a walk along the foreshore, a lovely walk through the industrial and residential streets.

An early morning ride along the Alexandria Canal from Tempe to Alexandria.
Enjoyed breakfast at The Grounds cafe.
Not really what could be described as a scenic ride… it is along a canal and beside an airport after all, but still, a bit of blue on the map to fill in, and breaking at an institution such as The Grounds… well, any excuse will do!
Rhodes > Olympic Park > Rydalmere

We drove down to Rhodes and parked at the northern end of the path, near the railway bridge to Meadowbank.
We unloaded the bikes and headed off south along a beautiful path beside the river in front of all the new apartments at Rhodes.
As the shopping strip peters out, the path continues along the waterfront, through the Rhodes wetlands, past bird sanctuaries, recreation areas and, once we reached Wentworth Point (close to the Olympic Park), housing.
It was raining this day, so we stopped here and had a coffee before returning back a different way through the various Olympic area paths.
The following week, in bright sunshine, we parked the car and headed out from near the Olympic Archery Centre, heading west along the bike path. We rode past the Armory cafe, but had to cross the river at the bridge at Silverwater road as there’s no path through the oil refinery. The path continued on this other side of the river… we rode till it finished near Western Sydney University.
Here we turned around and rode back to the Armory Cafe for breakie. A nice morning 🙂

Week 42 ~ P is for Pittwater

As Peter Fitzimons is fond of saying – Gotta love this city!
Less than 25 kilometres as the crow flies from the CBD, Church Point, opposite Scotland Island on Pittwater, north of Sydney.
Just beautiful. Idyllic setting; runabouts doing the Saturday morning shopping and run-around, lanyards slapping against masts, kayaks, fishing, walking, running, cycling.
A beautiful part of Sydney. Breakfast at the The Waterfront Store cafe and then a walk – what a great start to the weekend.
Next door, The Pasadena Motel and Restaurant – closed for the past 6 years after court action regarding its redevelopment – prime site, someone’s losing a lot of money.
Week 40 ~ N is for Nutricious breakfast

Our youngest son turned 21 and we had a 21st birthday party at home last night.
Beer, wine, soft drink and party food, so a delicious, healthy breakfast and a great walk around Alexandria on Sunday morning was in order.
We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Bread and Circus, and then a walk around a few blocks before another coffee at The Substation – where we’ll be back another time for breakie!
Week 37 ~ K is for Kissing Point
Posted: September 12, 2015 in CafeTags: beehive, breakfast, Lane Cove National Park, Sydney, what to do in Sydney, What to do in Sydney this weekend
There’s Kissing Points everywhere…
Fun fact: Historically, when a boat needed to have work done on the keel, the owner would float it up onto a sandy point at high tide and let the keel “kiss” the sand. Then when the tide went out, they could work on the boat.
We had to be up at Robyn’s work at Pymble on Saturday morning, so we had breakie at the Vertical Espresso cafe at Kissing Point Rd in Turramurra and then went for a walk through Lane Cove National Park between Turramurra and North Epping.
Beautiful Sydney spring morning. Great start to the weekend.
Week 35 ~ I is for ‘igh Tea at the Hydro Majestic

Yes, I know it’s a complete cop-out… but we had a lovely day in the Blue Mountains staying at my sister’s house at Hazelbrook while she’s away riding Route 66.
We did a few touristy things – morning tea at the Carrington Hotel at Katoomba
Visited the 3 sisters and Evans Lookout before High Tea at the Hydro Majestic at Medlow Bath.
They have done a beautiful job refurbishing this hotel – it’s obvious they’ve spent millions on the renovations and extensions.
Cold beer and champagne, beautiful live piano music in the background and delicious high tea.
Can highly recommend it. A great day out.
Week 28 ~ B is for Breakfast at Breakfast Point

On a frosty Sydney winter’s morning, we went to Breakfast Point in Sydney’s Inner West for breakfast at Olive Kitchen.
Delicious 🙂
I had the Italian style baked eggs with tomatoes and other fare in a cast iron pan – a difficult choice from a good menu.
